Refreshing Watermelon Lemonade Slushy: a sweet and tart blend of watermelon and lemon, perfectly icy.

- 8 cups cubed seedless watermelon, chilled
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 6–8 lemons)
- ½ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- ½ cup water
- 1 cup ice cubes (more if needed for desired consistency)
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)
- Watermelon wedges, for garnish (optional)
- Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Make Simple Syrup (Optional): In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Cool completely.
- Prepare Watermelon: Choose a ripe watermelon. Cube it, removing any seeds. Chill for at least 1 hour.
- Juice Lemons: Roll lemons to release juice. Juice using a citrus juicer, removing any seeds. Strain juice (optional).
- Blend Slushy: In a high-powered blender, combine chilled watermelon, lemon juice, cooled simple syrup (or sugar), and ice cubes.
- Blend Until Smooth: Blend on high speed until smooth and slushy. Add water if too thick, or ice if too thin.
- Taste and Adjust: Adjust sweetness or tartness to your liking.
- Blend Again (If Needed): Blend again to incorporate any added ingredients.
- Serve and Garnish: Pour into glasses. Garnish with lemon slices, watermelon wedges, and/or mint sprigs. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a thicker slushy, use frozen watermelon.
- Experiment with adding other fruits like strawberries or raspberries.
- For an adult version, add a shot of vodka, rum, or tequila.
- Substitute honey or agave for sugar.
- A pinch of salt can enhance the sweetness.
- For a spicy kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or jalapeño slices.
- Create layered slushies by blending different fruits separately.
- Rim the glass with sugar or salt for added flavor and presentation.
- Pour the slushy mixture into popsicle molds and freeze for a refreshing treat.
