Description

Savor a delightful twist on traditional chicken sandwiches with grilled chicken smothered in a creamy white BBQ sauce. Ideal for summer gatherings or a quick weeknight meal, these sandwiches are guaranteed to please!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup coleslaw (optional, for topping)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat.
  2. Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap or parchment paper and pound to an even thickness of about 1 inch.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub this seasoning blend all over the chicken breasts.
  4. Grill the chicken breasts for about 6-7 minutes on one side without moving them.
  5. Flip the chicken and grill for another 6-7 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  6. Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for about 5 minutes.
  7. In a medium-sized bowl, combine mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  8. Whisk until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  9. Slice the rested chicken breasts into strips or leave them whole.
  10. Toast the hamburger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster.
  11. Spread a generous amount of white BBQ sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun.
  12. Place the sliced or whole grilled chicken on top of the sauce. Add coleslaw if desired.
  13. Drizzle more white BBQ sauce over the coleslaw, if desired, and place the top half of the bun on each sandwich.
  14. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
  15. Serve the sandwiches immediately while warm, paired with sweet potato fries or a simple green salad.
  16. Store leftover chicken and sauce separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator. Chicken lasts 3-4 days; sauce lasts up to a week.
  17. Reheat chicken in the microwave or on the stovetop until heated through, or grill again for a fresh taste.

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the seasoning in the white BBQ sauce to your taste.
  • This recipe is versatile; you can add other toppings like pickles or cheese if desired.
