- 1.5 oz Gin (London Dry recommended)
- 4 oz Pineapple Juice (Freshly squeezed preferred)
- 2 oz Orange Juice (Freshly squeezed preferred)
- 0.75 oz Lime Juice
- 0.5 oz Grenadine
- 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
- Pineapple wedge, for garnish
- Orange slice, for garnish
- Maraschino cherry, for garnish (optional)
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Chill Your Glass: Chill a highball glass by filling it with ice or placing it in the freezer for a few minutes.
- Combine the Juices: In a shaker, combine the pineapple juice, orange juice, and lime juice.
- Add the Gin and Bitters: Pour in the gin and add the Angostura bitters to the shaker.
- Shake Well: Fill the shaker with ice. Close it tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
- Strain into the Glass: Remove the ice from the chilled glass (if used). Fill the glass with fresh ice cubes. Strain the mixture from the shaker into the glass over the ice.
- Create the Sunrise Effect: Slowly pour the grenadine down the side of the glass. It will sink to the bottom, creating a gradient effect.
- Garnish: Garnish with a pineapple wedge, an orange slice, and a maraschino cherry (if using).
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve immediately.
Notes
- Use high-quality, fresh ingredients for the best flavor.
- Adjust the sweetness by modifying the amount of grenadine.
- Experiment with different gins to find your favorite flavor profile.
- For a lighter drink, add a splash of soda water.
- To make a mocktail, omit the gin and replace it with sparkling water or club soda.
- For a spicy kick, add a thin slice of jalapeño to the shaker.
- For a frozen treat, blend all the ingredients with a cup of ice until smooth.
- Infuse your gin with tropical fruits like pineapple or mango for an extra layer of flavor.
- Rim the glass with sugar or salt before pouring in the drink.
- To make a batch, multiply the ingredients by the number of servings you need and mix them in a large pitcher. Add the grenadine just before serving to maintain the sunrise effect.
