- 1 ½ cups freshly brewed strong coffee (dark roast preferred)
- 2 ounces spiced rum (Captain Morgan or your favorite)
- 1 ounce coffee liqueur (Kahlua)
- 1–2 tablespoons brown sugar, or to taste
- ¼ cup heavy cream, whipped (optional)
- Pinch of ground cinnamon (for garnish)
- Pinch of ground nutmeg (for garnish)
- Star anise (for garnish, optional)
- Orange zest (for garnish, optional)
- Ice cubes (for iced version)
Instructions
- Brew a strong batch of coffee (about 1 ½ cups).
- Warm your mug with hot water, then empty.
- Pour coffee into the mug. Add spiced rum, coffee liqueur, and brown sugar.
- Stir well until the brown sugar is completely dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness.
- Spoon whipped cream on top.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. Add star anise and orange zest, if desired.
- Brew coffee and let it cool slightly (or chill in the refrigerator).
- In a cocktail shaker, combine cooled coffee, spiced rum, coffee liqueur, and brown sugar.
- Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
- Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
- Strain into a glass filled with ice.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg, and a slice of orange or a star anise, if desired.
