Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in milk and olive oil. Mix until the dough starts to come together.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead gently for 2-3 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick (approximately 12×16 inches).
- Spread pizza sauce evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then add pepperoni or other toppings.
- Sprinkle oregano and garlic powder over the cheese and toppings.
- Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly and pinch the seam to seal.
- Slice the rolled dough into 1-inch thick pieces (about 12-15 scrolls) and place cut-side up on a lined baking sheet.
- Beat the egg in a small bowl.
- Brush the tops of the scrolls with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
- Let the scrolls cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes.
- Transfer to a serving platter and enjoy warm with extra pizza sauce on the side.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences. Vegetables like bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives can be great additions.
- For a spicier kick, consider adding some crushed red pepper flakes to the filling.
