Paloma Mocktail: The Ultimate Refreshing Non-Alcoholic Recipe

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A refreshing Paloma cocktail with grapefruit soda, lime juice, and agave nectar. Perfect for a hot day!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces Grapefruit Soda (chilled, Mexican preferred)
  • 1 ounce Lime Juice (freshly squeezed)
  • ½ ounce Agave Nectar or Simple Syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Pinch of Salt (optional, for rim)
  • Lime Wedge (for garnish)
  • Grapefruit Wedge (optional, for garnish)
  • Ice Cubes (as needed)
  • 2 ounces Sparkling Water or Club Soda (optional, for extra fizz)

Instructions

  1. Chill Your Glass: Chill your glass beforehand in the freezer for 15 minutes or fill it with ice water.
  2. Salt the Rim (Optional): Pour salt onto a shallow plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your chilled glass to moisten it. Gently press the rim into the salt, rotating until evenly coated.
  3. Fill with Ice: Fill your prepared glass with ice cubes.
  4. Add Lime Juice: Pour the freshly squeezed lime juice into the glass over the ice.
  5. Add Agave Nectar or Simple Syrup: Add the agave nectar or simple syrup. Start with ½ ounce and taste as you go.
  6. Pour in Grapefruit Soda: Slowly pour the chilled grapefruit soda into the glass.
  7. Add Sparkling Water (Optional): If using, gently top off the drink with sparkling water or club soda.
  8. Stir Gently: Use a long spoon or straw to gently stir the ingredients together.
  9. Garnish: Garnish with a lime wedge and a grapefruit wedge (if using).
  10. Add a Straw: Insert a straw into the glass.
  11. Serve Immediately: Serve your Paloma immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a spicier Paloma, muddle a few slices of jalapeño in the bottom of your glass before adding the other ingredients or use chili salt for the rim.
  • For a sweeter Paloma, add more agave nectar or simple syrup to taste.
  • For a less sweet Paloma, reduce the amount of agave nectar or simple syrup, or use a sugar-free grapefruit soda.
  • Experiment with different citrus juices like lemon or orange.
  • For a non-alcoholic tequila alternative, try adding a splash more agave syrup and a squeeze of extra lime.
  • Use Mexican grapefruit soda like Jarritos or Squirt for a unique flavor.
  • Fresh lime juice is best.
  • Add a sprig of rosemary or muddle a few fresh mint leaves for a fragrant and herbaceous twist.
