Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ripe muskmelon (also known as cantaloupe)
- 1–2 tablespoons of honey (optional, depending on sweetness preference)
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 1 cup of cold water or ice cubes
- Mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Select a ripe muskmelon that feels heavy for its size and has a sweet aroma. The skin should be slightly netted and have a golden hue.
- Wash the muskmelon under running water to remove any dirt or pesticides.
- Cut the muskmelon in half using a sharp knife. Be careful as the skin can be tough.
- Scoop out the seeds with a spoon. Discard the seeds or save them for planting.
- Cut the muskmelon into quarters for easier handling, then slice off the skin from each quarter. Chop the flesh into smaller cubes.
- Place the chopped muskmelon cubes into a blender. If you prefer a sweeter juice, add honey at this stage.
- Pour in the cold water or add ice cubes to the blender.
- Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice.
- Blend on high speed until smooth, about 30 seconds to a minute.
- Taste the juice and add more honey if desired, blending again for a few seconds.
- For a smoother juice, strain the mixture using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth over a bowl or pitcher.
- Pour the blended muskmelon juice into the strainer and press down on the pulp to extract as much juice as possible.
- Discard the pulp or save it for another use.
- Pour the freshly made muskmelon juice into glasses. Chill in the refrigerator if desired.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves and a slice of muskmelon on the rim of the glass.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Store any leftover juice in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within 24 hours for optimal freshness.
- Stir the juice before serving leftovers, as it may separate over time.
