Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: frosting of your choice for decoration
- Optional: sprinkles or other toppings
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Start with a third of the flour mixture, then half of the milk, another third of the flour, the remaining milk, and finally the last of the flour. Mix until just combined.
- Line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
- Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full with the batter and gently tap the pan on the counter to remove air bubbles.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cupcakes cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost the cupcakes with your favorite frosting using a piping bag, and add sprinkles or other decorations as desired.
