- Optional: shredded coconut or chopped nuts for extra crunch
Instructions
- Scoop out the vanilla ice cream into 8 equal-sized balls using an ice cream scoop for a nice round shape.
- Place the ice cream balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Freeze the ice cream balls for at least 2 hours until very firm.
- In a medium bowl, combine the crushed cornflakes and ground cinnamon, mixing well.
- In another bowl, add the all-purpose flour.
- In a third bowl, whisk together the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.
- After 2 hours, remove the ice cream from the freezer.
- Roll each ice cream ball in the flour to coat fully.
- Dip the floured ice cream ball into the egg mixture, ensuring complete coverage.
- Roll the egg-coated ice cream ball in the cornflake mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat for all balls.
- Place the coated balls back on the baking sheet and freeze for another hour.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet or heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully add one or two ice cream balls to the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding.
- Fry for 30 seconds to 1 minute until golden brown, turning gently with a slotted spoon.
- Remove the fried ice cream balls and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Place each fried ice cream ball on a serving plate.
- Drizzle chocolate syrup generously over the top and add optional toppings like shredded coconut or chopped nuts.
- Top each ball with a dollop of whipped cream.
- Garnish with a cherry on top.
- Serve immediately while warm and crispy for the best experience.
- Enjoy with additional toppings like fresh fruit, caramel sauce, or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
