Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 black tea bags (or 4 tablespoons loose black tea)
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, your choice)
  • 1/4 cup vanilla syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes
  • Cinnamon sticks (for garnish, optional)
  • Vanilla beans (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil 4 cups of water in a medium-sized pot.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat and add black tea bags or loose black tea in a tea infuser.
  3. Let steep for 5-7 minutes, adjusting steeping time for desired strength.
  4. Remove tea bags or strain out loose tea. For a smoother finish, strain again through a coffee filter or fine mesh sieve.
  5. While warm, add 1/4 cup of sugar to the tea and stir until dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  6. Stir in 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
  7. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature or refrigerate to speed up the process.
  8. Transfer cooled tea to a large pitcher.
  9. In a bowl, combine 1 cup of milk with 1/4 cup of vanilla syrup and whisk until well combined.
  10. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
  11. Pour cooled tea over the ice, filling the glass halfway.
  12. Slowly pour the milk and vanilla mixture over the tea, adjusting the ratio to your preference.
  13. Gently stir to combine.
  14. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or vanilla beans if desired.
  15. Serve immediately and enjoy!
