  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 85 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This Honey Soy Garlic Salmon features tender fillets marinated in a sweet and savory blend of honey, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. Easy to prepare, it can be baked or pan-seared, making it a healthy and satisfying meal perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil, for cooking

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Whisk until the honey is fully dissolved and the mixture is well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
  2. Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the salmon, ensuring each fillet is well coated. Cover the dish with plastic wrap or seal the bag, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, ideally for 1-2 hours.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with olive oil. If pan-searing, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
  4. Remove the salmon from the refrigerator. If baking, place the fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet and drizzle a little marinade over each fillet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). If pan-searing, place the fillets skin-side down in the hot skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes without moving, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes. Optionally, pour some reserved marinade into the skillet during the last minute of cooking.
  5. Once cooked, let the salmon rest for a couple of minutes. Serve on a bed of steamed rice or alongside sautéed vegetables. Drizzle any remaining marinade over the salmon and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes
