Description

These Honey Garlic Turkey Meatballs are a healthy and flavorful twist on a classic dish, made with lean ground turkey and a sweet-savory honey garlic sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or as a tasty appetizer for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, and grated Parmesan cheese.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic to the bowl.
  3. Crack the egg into the mixture.
  4. Pour in the soy sauce, and sprinkle in the salt, black pepper, oregano, and thyme.
  5. Using your hands, mix everything together until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  7. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  8. Scoop out about 1.5 tablespoons of the meat mixture and roll it into a ball. Place it on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all the mixture is used up (about 20-24 meatballs).
  9. Place the baking sheet with the meatballs in the preheated oven.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  11. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, and sesame oil (if using). Stir well.
  12. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  13. Remove from heat and set aside.
  14. Once the meatballs are done baking, transfer them to a large mixing bowl.
  15. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the meatballs and gently toss to coat.
  16. Let the meatballs sit for a few minutes to absorb the flavors.
  17. Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider adding chopped green onions or sesame seeds as a garnish.
  • These meatballs can be served with rice, noodles, or on their own as an appetizer.
