Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic to the bowl.
- Crack the egg into the mixture.
- Pour in the soy sauce, and sprinkle in the salt, black pepper, oregano, and thyme.
- Using your hands, mix everything together until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Scoop out about 1.5 tablespoons of the meat mixture and roll it into a ball. Place it on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all the mixture is used up (about 20-24 meatballs).
- Place the baking sheet with the meatballs in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- In a small saucepan, combine the honey, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, and sesame oil (if using). Stir well.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
- Once the meatballs are done baking, transfer them to a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the honey garlic sauce over the meatballs and gently toss to coat.
- Let the meatballs sit for a few minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider adding chopped green onions or sesame seeds as a garnish.
- These meatballs can be served with rice, noodles, or on their own as an appetizer.
