- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (from about 8–10 limes)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 cups water
- Lime slices, for garnish
- Mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)
- Ice cubes
- Sparkling water or club soda (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Wash, peel, and roughly chop the guavas.
- Add chopped guavas and 1/4 cup water to a blender. Add more water, 1 tablespoon at a time, if needed to blend smoothly.
- Add sugar and lime juice. Blend until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust sweetness/tartness.
- Strain through a fine-mesh sieve for a super smooth puree.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Squeeze limes to get 1 cup of fresh juice.
- Combine sugar and 1 cup water in a saucepan. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar dissolves. Cool completely.
- In a pitcher, combine cooled simple syrup, lime juice, and remaining 3 cups water. Stir well. Taste and adjust sweetness/tartness. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes.
- Pour about 1/4 cup guava puree into each glass.
- Fill the rest of the glass with chilled limeade.
- Top with a splash of sparkling water or club soda.
- Garnish with a lime slice and mint sprig.
- Gently stir and enjoy!
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add a small slice of jalapeño to the guava puree while blending.
- Muddle basil leaves or cilantro sprigs in the bottom of the glass before adding the guava puree for an herbal twist.
- Experiment with other fruits in the puree, such as mango, pineapple, or passion fruit.
- Use honey, agave nectar, or stevia instead of granulated sugar.
- Add a shot of white rum or tequila to make it an adult beverage.
- Blend all the ingredients together with ice for a frozen slushy version.
- The guava puree can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- The limeade can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- It’s best to assemble the mocktail just before serving to prevent the ice from melting and diluting the flavors.
