Description
This Frozen Cherry Limeade is a refreshing slushy drink that combines tart lime and sweet cherries, perfect for hot days. It’s easy to make, customizable, and a delightful treat for all ages!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups frozen cherries
- 1 cup fresh lime juice (about 6–8 limes)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 2 cups cold water
- 1 cup ice cubes
- Fresh lime slices and cherries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Roll the limes on the countertop to release juices. Cut in half and juice using a citrus juicer or reamer to yield about 1 cup of lime juice. Strain to remove seeds.
- In a blender, combine frozen cherries, lime juice, and granulated sugar. Start with 3/4 cup of sugar if you prefer less sweetness, and adjust later.
- Pour in the cold water to help dilute the mixture for easier blending. Adjust the water amount for desired thickness.
- Blend on high speed for 30-60 seconds until smooth. Add more water if the mixture is too thick.
- Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness with more sugar or tartness with more lime juice as needed.
- Add ice cubes to the blender and blend until the ice is crushed and the mixture is slushy.
- If too thick, add more cold water; if too thin, add more ice and blend again.
- For a firmer texture, let the mixture sit in the freezer for 15-20 minutes.
- Prepare serving glasses by rimming with lime juice and dipping in sugar for a sweet touch.
- Stir the mixture and pour into prepared glasses, filling them about three-quarters full.
- Garnish with lime slices and whole cherries for a beautiful presentation.
- Add colorful straws, and enjoy your refreshing frozen cherry limeade!
Notes
- Choosing Cherries: Fresh cherries can be used if frozen ones are unavailable; just pit and freeze them beforehand. Other frozen fruits like strawberries or raspberries can also be substituted.
- Sweetness Level: Adjust sweetness based on the ripeness of cherries and tartness of limes.
- Make it a Cocktail: Add a splash of vodka or rum for an adult version.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer. Let sit at room temperature before re-blending to enjoy again.
- Experimenting with Flavors: Add mint leaves while blending for a refreshing twist.
