Description
Adorable Easter Bunny Crescent Rolls filled with sweet cream cheese. Fun, festive, and perfect for Easter brunch or dessert!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar, for dusting
- Chocolate chips or sprinkles, for decorating
- Optional: Strawberry jam or other fruit preserves, for filling
Instructions
- Soften the Cream Cheese: Take the cream cheese out of the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before starting. Microwave in 10-second intervals if needed, until softened.
- Combine Cream Cheese and Sugar: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes). Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
- Add Vanilla Extract: Mix in the vanilla extract until well combined.
- Adjust Consistency with Milk: Gradually add the milk, one tablespoon at a time, mixing after each addition, until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency. You might not need all of the milk.
- Taste and Adjust (Optional): Taste the filling and adjust the sweetness if needed.
- Set Aside: Cover the filling with plastic wrap and set aside.
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the Crescent Dough: Unroll one can of crescent roll dough onto a lightly floured surface. Separate into individual triangles.
- Spread the Cream Cheese Filling: Spread a generous amount of cream cheese filling onto each triangle, leaving a small border. Add a small dollop of jam or fruit preserves, if using.
- Roll Up the Triangles: Starting at the wide end, roll each triangle up towards the point.
- Shape into Bunnies: Curve the rolled-up crescent into a “U” shape. Pinch the two ends together to form the bunny’s head. Slightly flatten the head.
- Create Bunny Ears: Make two small slits at the top of the bunny’s head to create the ears. Gently pull the dough apart to separate the ears. Twist them slightly.
- Repeat with Remaining Dough: Repeat steps 2-6 with the second can of crescent roll dough.
- Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the shaped bunny rolls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each roll.
- Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and the filling is set.
- Check for Doneness: If the rolls start to brown too quickly, tent them with aluminum foil.
- Cool Slightly: Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with Powdered Sugar: Dust the cooled rolls generously with powdered sugar.
- Add Chocolate Chip Eyes: Press two mini chocolate chips into the bunny’s head to create the eyes.
- Decorate with Sprinkles (Optional): Sprinkle with your favorite sprinkles.
- Add a Nose (Optional): Use pink frosting or melted pink candy melts to create a bunny nose.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Make sure your cream cheese is properly softened for a smooth filling.
