Description
Enjoy a vibrant Dragon Fruit Smoothie that’s both refreshing and nutritious. This creamy blend of dragon fruit, frozen banana, and coconut water makes for a perfect healthy breakfast or snack, with optional ingredients to boost flavor and nutrition.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ripe dragon fruit (also known as pitaya)
- 1 banana, frozen for a creamier texture
- 1 cup of coconut water or almond milk
- 1 tablespoon of honey or agave syrup (optional, for sweetness)
- 1 tablespoon of chia seeds (optional, for added nutrition)
- 1/2 cup of spinach or kale (optional, for a green boost)
- Ice cubes (optional, for a chilled smoothie)
Instructions
- Select a ripe dragon fruit with bright pink or yellow skin. Cut it in half lengthwise and scoop out the flesh with a spoon, placing it in a blender.
- Peel and slice the frozen banana. Measure out the coconut water or almond milk. Prepare honey or agave syrup, chia seeds, and wash and chop spinach or kale if using.
- In the blender, combine the dragon fruit flesh, frozen banana, coconut water or almond milk, and any optional ingredients. Add ice cubes if desired. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy, about 30-60 seconds.
- Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness with more honey or agave syrup if needed. If too thick, add more coconut water or almond milk and blend again.
- Pour the smoothie into a tall glass or bowl. Optionally, top with chia seeds, sliced fruit, or granola for added texture. Enjoy with a straw or spoon!
Notes
- For best flavor, use a ripe dragon fruit.
- Feel free to customize the smoothie by adding other fruits or superfoods.
- Leftover smoothie can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, but it’s best enjoyed fresh.
