  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Description

Enjoy a refreshing homemade cold coffee made with rich brewed coffee, creamy milk, and a touch of vanilla. This easy-to-make beverage is perfect for warm days or as a delightful pick-me-up, and can be customized with optional toppings and flavors to suit your taste.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of brewed coffee (cooled to room temperature)
  • 1 cup of milk (whole, skim, or your preferred non-dairy alternative)
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup of heavy cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • Ice cubes
  • Chocolate syrup (for drizzling, optional)
  • Cocoa powder or instant coffee (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew your favorite coffee (about 2 cups) and let it cool to room temperature. You can speed up the cooling by placing it in the fridge.
  2. Taste the cooled coffee and add sugar to your liking (about 2 tablespoons is typical). Stir until dissolved.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the coffee and stir to combine.
  4. In a separate bowl or pitcher, pour in 1 cup of milk (whole, skim, or non-dairy).
  5. For extra creaminess, add 1/4 cup of heavy cream to the milk (optional) and mix well.
  6. In a blender, combine the cooled coffee mixture and the milk mixture. Blend on high for about 30 seconds for a frothy texture, or less for a smoother consistency.
  7. Taste the blended mixture and adjust sweetness if needed.
  8. Fill a glass with ice cubes (preferably large to prevent dilution).
  9. Pour the blended coffee mixture over the ice, filling the glass about three-quarters full.
  10. For a decorative touch, drizzle chocolate syrup inside the glass before pouring in the coffee.
  11. Optionally, whip some heavy cream until soft peaks form and dollop it on top of the cold coffee. Garnish with cocoa powder or instant coffee if desired.
  12. Stir gently with a straw or spoon to mix in the whipped cream.
  13. Enjoy your homemade cold coffee, perfect for any occasion!

Notes

  • Experiment with flavors by adding spices like cinnamon or nutmeg, or even a scoop of ice cream for a dessert twist.
  • For a mocha version, blend in chocolate syrup with the coffee before mixing with milk.
  • Freeze coffee into ice cubes to prevent dilution in your drink.
  • Adjust the coffee-to-milk ratio to suit your taste preferences.
