Bacon Cheddar Ranch Pinwheels: Easy Recipe & Perfect Appetizer

  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Yield: 12-16 pinwheels 1x

Description

Cheesy, savory pinwheels filled with cream cheese, ranch, cheddar, bacon, and green onions, baked to golden perfection. Perfect as an appetizer or snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 package (10 ounces) refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for brushing)
  • Everything bagel seasoning (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, ranch dressing, cheddar cheese, bacon, and green onions. Mix well until evenly distributed. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
  2. Prepare the Dough: Unroll pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface. Stretch with a rolling pin into a 12×16 inch rectangle.
  3. Assemble the Pinwheels: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border on one long edge.
  4. Roll the dough tightly into a log, starting from the opposite long edge. Pinch the seam to seal.
  5. Wrap the log in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to a few hours).
  6. Slice and Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Remove the chilled dough log and slice into 1-inch thick pinwheels.
  8. Place pinwheels on the baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  9. Brush with melted butter (optional) and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning (optional).
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  11. Cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. Serve: Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Spice it up: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling.
  • Cheese Variations: Try Monterey Jack, pepper jack, or a cheese blend.
  • Add Veggies: Incorporate finely chopped bell peppers, onions, or spinach.
  • Vegetarian Option: Omit the bacon and add sun-dried tomatoes or roasted red peppers.
  • Puff Pastry: Use puff pastry for a flakier pinwheel (adjust baking time accordingly).
