Description
Creamy and refreshing Avocado Margarita! A unique twist on the classic cocktail, blending ripe avocados with tequila, lime, and a touch of sweetness.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe avocados, pitted and peeled
- 1/2 cup silver tequila (blanco)
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur (such as Cointreau or Triple Sec)
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice, plus more to taste
- 2 tablespoons agave nectar, plus more to taste
- 1/4 cup water, plus more as needed
- 1/4 cup ice cubes, plus more as needed
- Lime wedges, for garnish
- Salt or sugar for rimming the glasses (optional)
Instructions
- (Optional) Prepare Your Glasses: If desired, rim your margarita glasses with salt or sugar. Pour salt or sugar onto a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass to moisten it. Gently press the rim of the glass into the salt or sugar, rotating until evenly coated. Set the glasses aside.
- Combine Ingredients: In a blender, add the ripe avocados, tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, agave nectar, water, and ice cubes.
- Blend Until Smooth: Secure the lid on the blender and blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy (1-2 minutes). Stop occasionally to scrape down the sides of the blender with a spatula to ensure everything is fully incorporated.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste the margarita and adjust the flavors to your liking. Add more agave nectar if too tart, more lime juice if not tart enough, or more water if too thick.
- (If Needed) Add More Ice: If you prefer a colder, more frozen margarita, add a few more ice cubes and blend again until you reach your desired consistency.
- Pour and Garnish: Carefully pour the avocado margarita into your prepared glasses. Garnish each glass with a lime wedge.
- Serve Immediately: Avocado margaritas are best served immediately.
Notes
- Use ripe avocados for the best flavor and texture.
- Adjust sweetness and tartness to your preference.
- For a spicy margarita, add a few slices of jalapeño to the blender.
- Try adding frozen mango or pineapple chunks for a tropical twist.
- Replace water with coconut water for a subtle coconut flavor.
- Use frozen avocado chunks for a thicker, more slushy consistency.
- Get creative with your rim by using chili lime salt, Tajin seasoning, or even a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
- Garnish with cilantro sprigs, edible flowers, or even a small avocado fan.
- You can squeeze the lime juice up to a day in advance and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- You can rim the glasses several hours in advance and store them in a cool, dry place.
- While I don’t recommend blending the entire margarita ahead of time (as the avocado can oxidize and turn brown), you can peel and pit the avocados and store them in an airtight container with a squeeze of lime juice to prevent browning.
